I had just arrived and barely removed my lens cap when I witnessed Papa take flight and catch an eel. I left it in original speed to show how remarkably fast this happens. His eaglets look on hoping to be fed. Just as I was filming one of the juvies in the water practicing skills, I noticed the huge shadow of Mama over the eaglet. He notices too and looks up. She flew in top speed to steal the eel for herself! Watch the major tug of war beneath the log as the eaglets look on. He is no match for the Queen and she easily snags it from him. He walks away defeated. She wastes no time ferociously tearing into the eel.
Eventually, the eaglets get fed. (One feeds herself when the eel splits in half). The others are fed by mom.
Watch the adult fly through the trees with the greatest of ease. And once the parents leave, the heir to the throne flies up to adorn the top of the pine! (Unphased by the grackle attacking her). Thank you Mother Nature for this truly blessed experience.
